This is a great little book, with fun illustrations making all the rhyming couplets very visual and understandable. "I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice-cream! Ice cream in a cone. Ice cream in a cup. Ice cream all alone. Ice cream all fixed up." Children will enjoy the sounds we associate with ice cream and will pick them up really quickly! "Drip. Lick. Ice cream stick. Stir. Scoop. Ice cream soup. Gulp. Slurp. Ice cream burp!" You can associate the different rhymes with an action or a sound, and the children will soon be memorizing the rhyme and sharing it with anyone who wants to listen! You can follow this up with a discussion about favorite ice cream flavors, and a display of ice cream drawings, in cones, cups, floats or with cake... yummy! And of course if left to browse children will soon be reading the words.
