This is an adaptation of the rhyme "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed", but it seems to be far more exciting as it uses monsters instead of monkeys!
The illustrations are hilarious and for children this story not only helps them with counting and subtracting, but also might help them chase nightmares away.
A little boy is kept awake by some ugly monsters, who keep falling off his bed. He rushes off to call the doctor, whose advice is: "No more monsters jumping on the bed" and magically the monsters disappear!
This is repeated through numbers 4 to 1 when finally the little boy takes control and tells them all himself "No more monsters jumping on the bed!!!"
Children would love turning this into role-play with one as the doctor on the phone, telling the monsters to go away, and one as the little boy. They will also be able to predict how many monsters will appear on the following page. This is a good participatory story and will be enjoyed by all!
